Shrimp and Grits Cook-Off Benefits Charleston Animal Society

Peck1This Labor Day weekend, the Shrimp and Grits Cook-Off offers Charleston residents the opportunity to eat and drink for a great cause.

During the Shrimp and Grits Cook-Off, fifteen elite local chefs will showcase their take on the Lowcountry classic. Attendees will then sample each chef’s creation, voting on their favorite to determine which chef earns the coveted People’s Choice Award. Professional judging will also be done by celebrity judges.

Wine, spirits, and beer will also be available for everyone’s enjoyment. Finally, live music from local bands will complete the evening.

A portion of the proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the Charleston Animal Society, an organization that provides for thousands of homeless animals in the area. The Charleston Animal Society offers adoption and fostering of animals, spay and neuter services, and dog training for new owners. In addition to their important services, the organization also works to end animal cruelty.

The Shrimp and Grits Cook-Off will take place on August 30 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Charleston Visitor’s Center Terminal. Parking is available at the Charleston Visitor’s Center Parking Lot.

Admission costs $35 at the door and $30 in advance. Children 12 and under are admitted for $12.

We hope that you attend this event to support a wonderful cause!
