Cooper River Bridge Run

Charleston’s favorite race is back: the Cooper River Bridge Run is set to take place in just a few days.Cooper River Bridge Run | The Peck Law Firm

Every year, more than 35,000 runners and walkers participate in the run from Mt. Pleasant to downtown Charleston. Participants wind through Mt. Pleasant before crossing the Arthur Ravenel Bridge, which offers spectacular views of the river and of Charleston.

The Bridge’s great views aren’t the only feature that contributes to the popularity of this race. The Bridge Run offers activities and events for everyone before and after the race itself. These include the following:

  • Kids Run & Wonderfest: With a variety of entertainers, musical acts, and activities, the Wonderfest promises to delight kids of all ages.
  • Johnsonville Big Taste Grill: This event serves up just 5,000 bratwursts for participants, so get there early!
  • Musical entertainment: Edwin McCain will headline, and many other acts—including trumpeter Joey Morant and the country rock group County Line Road—will entertain as well.
  • The Taste of the Bridge Run on Friday evening features food from 23 local restaurants.

The mission of the Bridge Run is to promote fitness and a healthy, active lifestyle in the community.

To accommodate the many race participants, various roads throughout Charleston and Mount Pleasant will be closed for portions of Saturday morning and the Ravenel Bridge will close in both directions at 7:00 a.m.

I encourage you to attend the event that USA Today includes in its list of “14 spring races all runners should try.”
