We are fortunate to live in Charleston, South Carolina where we can enjoy so many special festivals and events. One of the highlights of every year is the Charleston Wine and Food Festival.
This year, the Charleston Festival starts on Thursday, March 6 and runs through Sunday, March 9 at various restaurants and locations throughout Charleston and Mount Pleasant. One of the highlights is sure to be the Culinary Village where you will be able to sample food and beverages from more than 40 vendors. You will also want to visit the Southern Season Open Air Artisan Market and the Outdoor Living Open Grilling Area. Tastings and demonstrations will abound.
The more noteworthy events will include the Thursday salute to Charleston’s chefs, Friday’s big bottle brunch and auction, the Saturday sandwich showcase, and Sunday’s crafted pairings of beer and sausage.
Throughout the festivities, various Charleston restaurants will host guest chefs and winemakers for unique dinner experiences. In tandem, local and guest chefs will prepare exceptional five-course tasting menus to be matched with special wine. A highlight of each meal will be a presentation by an expert winemaker concerning the wine pairings.
