Isle of Palms Connector Run Benefits Lowcountry Charities

Isle of Palms Connector - The Peck Law FirmOn Saturday, October 5, 2013, the 21st Annual IOP Connector Run and Walk for the Child will be held to benefit charitable organizations working to prevent child abuse and neglect in the Low Country.

Participants in the 5K run/walk and the 10K run can experience one of the more scenic routes in Charleston at the event. The course will start at Palm Blvd. at 8 a.m. and follow the Isle of Palms Connector over the Intracoastal Waterway toward Mount Pleasant. 5K runners and walkers will loop on the connector to return back to the Isle of Palms. 10K runners will continue across the Connector, turning around just before Rifle Rage Rd., then return back across the Connector. The finish line is on the Isle of Palms at J.C. Long Blvd.

This event is a favorite of Charleston-area residents, many of whom participate in the run or attend to cheer on the runners. The race has grown rapidly in the past several years, and organizers expect that it will have 3,000 runners by 2014.

If you haven’t registered to race, it’s not too late. You can register on race day at 6:30 a.m. at the Public Safety Building.

Also, please note that the Isle of Palms Connector will be completely closed to traffic from 7 a.m. until the race is completed.

After the race, there will be an exciting party featuring an awards ceremony, live music, kids’ entertainment, and a complimentary beer garden (ID required). PlaneJane, a much-loved local band, will play again this year.

I encourage you to attend the IOP Connector Run and Walk for the Child to support this great cause!
