This year, the Charleston Marathon returns to give you the opportunity to run for the arts!
The much-loved Charleston Marathon will start at Burke Middle High School in Charleston and will finish near North Charleston High School. During the run, you and other participants can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Lowcountry.
The marathon route will also be punctuated by music and performances. The groups will consist of talent from local schools as well as the community at large.
The marathon is set to take place on January 18, with a start time of 8 a.m. Participants will have 6.5 hours to complete the marathon.
You can register online, via mail, or in person at the Health and Fitness Expo on January 17 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. or on the day of the race at 6:30 a.m. The expo will feature fitness vendors, packet pick-up, and a pre-race pasta dinner. Registration for the marathon costs $100 online.
Once you cross the finish line, don’t forget to attend the post-race celebration, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The celebration will include free shrimp and grits, beer, and musical entertainment.
The Charleston Marathon supports a great cause: supporting the fine arts programs in the Charleston County Schools. The fine arts offer kids a chance to unveil hidden talents, practice new skills, and have fun. I encourage you to support this cause by attending the Charleston Marathon!
