Divorce is a Beginning
Not an End – to Your Life.

I have devoted my career to trial advocacy, first in the criminal courts and later in Family Court.

I have practiced law since 1991. After graduating from Capital University Law School, I spent eleven years as a Public Defender, first in Columbus, Ohio, and then in Charleston County. Those years taught me that effective advocacy is built on preparation, sound judgment, credibility, and experience. They continue to shape the way I evaluate every case today.

Since 2002, my practice has been devoted exclusively to Family Court. Throughout my career, I have represented clients in divorce, custody, child support, equitable division of marital property, alimony, adoption, contempt proceedings, and the enforcement and modification of Family Court Orders. I have guided clients through mediation, collaborative law, arbitration, cooperative divorce, negotiated settlement, and litigation. Every family is different, and every case deserves an approach tailored to that family’s circumstances rather than forcing every dispute into the same process.

In 2003, I became the first attorney in South Carolina trained in Collaborative Law. I am a founding member and past president of the South Carolina Academy of Collaborative Professionals, a Certified South Carolina Family Court Mediator, and a co-founder of the Lowcountry Mediation Center. In 2016, Sean Keefer and I developed Settlyd®, a software platform designed specifically for Family Court professionals to organize, calculate, and securely manage the financial information at the center of divorce litigation. Today, Settlyd is used by more than 200 Family Court firms throughout South Carolina.

My commitment to the profession extends beyond representing clients. I currently serve as Chair of the Practice and Procedure Committee of the South Carolina Bar, as a member of the House of Delegates, on the Resolution of Fee Disputes Board for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, and on the Board of the Charleston Cooperative Family Law Association. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to strengthening the practice of Family Court law through leadership, education, and mentorship.

At The Peck Law Firm, I serve as Trial Strategy Advisor, working closely with the firm’s attorneys on litigation strategy, trial preparation, legal analysis, and professional judgment. My role is not to represent the firm’s clients directly, but to help our attorneys evaluate difficult legal issues, prepare complex cases, and exercise the judgment that comes only from decades of experience. I believe clients are best served when important decisions are informed by thoughtful collaboration and seasoned legal counsel.

Guy J. Vitetta works with The Peck Law Firm as a Trial Strategy Advisor. He does not represent the firm’s clients. He brings more than thirty years of courtroom experience to our attorneys, helping them sharpen case strategy and trial advocacy so the clients we serve benefit from that depth. Guy has been AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 2005, was among the first attorneys in South Carolina trained in collaborative law, and is a certified family court mediator. He maintains his own practice at Vitetta Law Group, LLC.

After more than three decades as a trial lawyer, I remain convinced that the best advocacy is built on preparation, integrity, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to serving clients well.

What Our Clients Say

Real experiences from families we’ve helped through their most challenging times

My attorney, Kristina Jarvis, is a real go-getter. I’m very pleased with her leadership in providing me expert advice in how to navigate an extremely stressful time in my life. Part of that leadership included telling me some things that at the time, I did not want to hear, that in the end, turned out to be prudent and for my best. I would highly recommend her and The Peck Law firm.

Kristina Jarvis and her paralegal Erika were the most professional yet friendly people I had the pleasure of working with. I interviewed 3 other attorneys before getting a recommendation for Kristina. Going through a divorce was hard enough, but she made the process much easier. She looked out for my best interest the entire time. I would recommend to anyone!!!
