Divorce is a Beginning
Not an End – to Your Life.

My practice is devoted exclusively to Family Court. I represent clients in divorce, custody, child support, alimony, equitable division of marital property, and the enforcement and modification of existing Family Court Orders throughout Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties.

Before entering private practice, I served as a mediator in a Family Court clinic while attending law school. Working with parents to resolve disputes involving custody, parenting schedules, and financial issues taught me that lasting resolutions require careful planning, realistic expectations, and a willingness to listen. That experience continues to shape the way I practice today.

I believe clients make the best decisions when they understand not only the law, but also the practical realities of the choices before them. While negotiated resolutions often provide the best outcome for families, meaningful settlement is only possible when both sides are prepared. Effective negotiation begins with thorough preparation and a willingness to litigate when necessary.

No two families are alike, and no two cases should be approached exactly the same way. My goal is to understand each client’s circumstances, provide practical advice, and develop a strategy tailored to that client’s needs and long-term objectives.

Family Court litigation affects some of the most important aspects of a person’s life. Whether a case is resolved through settlement or proceeds to trial, I am committed to providing thoughtful counsel, careful preparation, and steady guidance throughout the process.

David Medley is dedicated to helping clients navigate the realities of divorce, child custody, adoption, or any matters of family law with clarity, dedication, and practical guidance during some of life’s most difficult and emotional transitions.
